A Bit of Light?

Too soon to say, but Zillow is reporting that fewer homeowners are upside down than in the last quarter.

Of course, prices have been dropping. Have they leveled out? The data suggests...maybe.

Maybe, says I, because I think house prices still are not in balance with peoples' incomes. No one is talking about this, instead preferring to focus on foreclosure numbers, short sale difficulties, defaults after loan modifications and other stuff that means little to the person who just received a Notice of Default.

The more I go on, the more I think there aren't "distressed properties." There is a distressed property and it's all about the person who owns it and what's hapening to him or her.

But I'm still glad for the Zillow news and hope, sincerely, that it's a trend.
