Loan Modification Help Now Free
Mon October 19, 2009, 1:22 pm
by Bill Metzker

As of today, I will  no longer charge for help with loan modifications.

There are several reason for this. The first is the existence of too many scammers doing i just that and I do not want to be associated with them. Second, people can get just as good a modification by themselves as they can by hiring someone.

Third--and this is most important--there are several groups like Open Door who do it for free with a staff of HUD-trained counselors.

The real work in loan modifications is assembling the packet--putting together a client's financial information, loan data, hardship letter, plus any other requirement the lender wants. It takes time.

Once that's done and the loan mod request gets made, it's in the lender's hands. And they take a very, very long time to answer. And they lose the packet you sent in. And sometimes, one person tells you one thing and someone else tells you another. It's enormously frustrating.

When the time comes that lenders get serious about making major modifications by agreeing tro write down loan principal, I'll help with that and charge for it. But most of the cost there will be in paying an attorney. If a lender agrees to a writedown, the devil will be in the details, and you'll need legal (and maybe tax) help.

This has been coming a long time and I feel better about it.

If you need help with putting together a loan mod request, contact me by calling or clicking on the above link.
