First Step in Stopping Foreclosure

So often with any kind of problem we face, the initial step at solution is so simple that we don't think of doing it.

The first step in stopping foreclosure is to call your lender BEFORE they send out a default notice. If you think you won't be able to continue to make payments, call the lender and tell them.

Of course, there can be problems with this. I can't tell you how many times I've heard of lenders telling their customers, "Well, we can't do anything until you get mehind in your mortgage," or words to that effect. They don't all do that, but some do.

But that's their problem. If you call, you've done your part. And if they blow you off, call again. Make a nuisance of yourself if you have to. If nothing else, a record of your calls will appear on the lender's computer screen.

And don't think that by calling, you'll be alerting your lender to a situation they won't discover for themselves. They will discover all, and if there's evidence you've been trying, it's good.

Call or email me if I can help.

And remember, never pay anyone upfront who guarantees you a loan modification.
